FINDLAY ~ William James "Bill" Findlay passed away at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the age of 87 years. Bill leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth; five children: Lois (Doug) Johnston, Margaret (Stuart) Hemsley, Reid (Brenda) Findlay, Brian (Deb) Findlay and Neil (Sandra) Findlay; 13 Grandchildren: Greg Johnston, Karen Johnston, Kevin Johnston, Dawn Highton (Darren Tomlinson), Julie (Marty) Bowes, Clinton (Tammy) Hemsley, Kirsten (Aron) Halter, Kent Findlay, Tamsen Findlay (Logan Skinner), Gerren Findlay (Ken Smart), Brynn Findlay (Dustin Lagrelle), Shara-Lynne (Hugh) Vick and Carmen (Cory) Brow; 16 Great Grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles (Fran) Ruttan; sister-in-law, Allwyn Ruttan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and Alexander Findlay; brothers: Warren and Alexander; sisters: Mary Berry and Jean Graham; grandchildren: Shauna, Brett and Melissa Findlay. The Memorial Service for Bill Findlay was conducted from the Knox Presbyterian Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Charlie McNeil officiating. Shella Stewart gave the eulogy. The hymns sung were “Nearer My God To Thee” and “In The Bulb There Is A Flower” accompanied by organist Irene Knowlson. The honorary pallbearers were all of Bill’s grandchildren. The Urn Bearers were great grandchildren: LaShawn Vick and Kierran Highton. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The family of the late Bill Findlay wish to thank everyone for all the cards, flowers, donations, food to our homes, phone calls, visits and hugs. Many thanks to the Nurses and Staff of the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Dr. Kenyon, the Handivan Staff and the Staff at the Pioneer Lodge for their wonderful care of Bill and Betty. A special thanks to Reverend Charlie McNeil for the wonderful memorial service, Irene Knowlson for providing the music and to the Knox Presbyterian Goodwill Group for the lovely lunch. Thanks to all the Grandchildren who acted as honorary pallbearers, Gerren and Tamsen for putting together the PowerPoint presentation and to LaShawn and Kierran for being the Urn bearers. A very special thanks to Shella Stewart (Great Niece) for the time spent with family to capture and present such a wonderful eulogy. Special thanks to Brett, Joel and the Staff at McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. for their support and compassion.
